Christmas Eve is one of the most holy nights. Our beautifully decorated sanctuaries sparkle in the light of our Christmas Eve candles as carols fill the air and the ancient story of a baby’s birth reminds us of what is most important both at Christmas and throughout the year. This year, we will hush amid the busyness of the season to listen for the angel song of “Peace on earth, goodwill to all”. While that message is appropriate every year, it feels particularly poignant this year as war rages near Bethlehem. Our service will conclude with a candle-lighting for peace as we take up the angel’s song, going out to work for peace in our homes, in our community and in our world
